In 2004, I was on staff at a wonderful church in Las Cruces, NM. One morning as I was enjoying my daily Bible reading and study time, the words from I Corinthians 14:19 resonated with my mind and spirit, "But in a church meeting I would much rather speak five understandable words that will help others than ten thousand words in an unknown language." (NLT)

Of course, Paul was teaching on the importance of prophetic preaching of the Word holding more importance than the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. God's Spirit provoked my thinking further and I asked the Lord, 'What are the five words?' That's when my search through scripture began revealing powerful phrases pregnant with purpose and meaning to encourage one's understanding of scripture, as well as providing a simple phrase that can be quickly applied to one's faith walk.

I hope that these phrases come alive to your heart and mind.

For Christ Alone,
